All members of the Eastern Cape House of Traditional Leaders (ECHOTL) will assemble in the second sitting of the third term of the House to address issues of importance. On this sitting the Honourable MEC, Mr M Qwase will take a centre stage when responding to education related challenges raised by Members of the House during the Premiers speech debate sitting held on 12 and 13 April 2010.
The sitting will also allow the MEC to highlight key priorities mentioned on a turnaround strategy that education department developed as a way of giving utmost attention to problems facing this department and also pledging support and role that must be played by traditional Leaders on education related programmes in their communities. It is also understood that a Memorandum of understanding between the House and Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative for South Africa (AsgiSA) around matters of rural development will be put on the table in order to enhance rural development initiatives.
Engagements will also be made around a Memorandum of understanding with South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) wherein it will be established as to how their core business will be supported by traditional leaders.
