On Tuesday, Western Cape Education MEC Donald Grant will be launching the "Own your future" public awareness campaign outside Masiyile Senior Secondary School in Khayelitsha. This is the first of its kind in the province's history.
The campaign, "Own Your Future, Own Your Success, Study Hard to Pass Your Matric" is part of the Western Cape Education Department's plan to improve the grade 12 pass rate in the province in 2010 and encourages learners to put maximum effort into their studies in the remaining months of the school career up to their final national senior certificate examinations.
The public awareness campaign includes messages of motivation and practical study tips for the matric class of 2010 on billboards, in taxi's, trains, bus shelters and in selected print and radio.
Minister Grant will be presenting to media one of the billboards outside Masiyile School. He will also outline the details of the campaign and underscore how important it is for every person in the province to support the class of 2010.
