North West Premier Maureen Modiselle will accompany the Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa, Kgalema Motlanthe, when he embarks on a working visit to the North West 2010 Legacy Projects on Saturday, 5 June 2010 in Rustenburg.
The Deputy President will be accompanied by various line function Ministers who portfolios are related to the projects as well as the Mayor of the host city and the Executive Mayor of the Bojanala Platinum District Municipality.
The purpose of the visit is to assess the state of readiness of the host city and the province to host the soccer games during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He will visit specific North West 2010 Legacy Projects to assess the milestones registered thus far and the challenges encountered.
These projects include the Royal Bafokeng Sports Campus, which houses the Royal Marang Hotel that is the base camp of the English national soccer team for the duration of the World Cup as well as the recently upgraded Job Shimankana Tabane Provincial Hospital in Rustenburg where he will visit the trauma unit there to ascertain its capability to handle emergencies during the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup.
Furthermore, the Deputy President, the Premier and the entire entourage will also pay a courtesy visit to Kgosi Leruo Molotlegi of the Bafokeng Nation. In addition, he will attend a meeting of all government 2010 stakeholders at the Supreme Council Chambers at the Phokeng Civic Centre thereafter and the media is invited to attend this meeting. From thereon, Deputy President Motlanthe will proceed to address over 6 000 people at the official FIFA Fan Park at the Fields College in Rustenburg in the afternoon.
