Appointment of Dr Stephen Mncube as Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) Chairperson

The Honourable Minister of Communications, Siphiwe Nyanda, announced the appointment of Dr Stephen Mncube as the new ICASA Chairperson effective from 1 July 2010.

The minister made the announcement at the farewell function of the former Chairperson, Paris Mashile last night at Sandton Sun Hotel.

The council of the authority and executive management extended a hand of welcome to Dr Mncube when he reported for duty this morning, and pledged to provide him with all the necessary support he will need in executing his duties.

This pledge extends to all ICASA employees as it continues to do its daily duties.

Dr Mncube will be officially sworn in tomorrow, 2 July 2010, at the ICASA block C presentation room at: 10h45.
