MEC Sebego on voter registration

4 Feb 2011

The North West MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Paul
Sebego has called on all eligible voters in the province to go out in
their numbers and register for the upcoming local government elections.

The Independent Electoral Commission has set aside the weekend of 5 and
6 February 2011 for voter registration across the country and doors will
be opened from 8am until 5pm on both dates. This is also an opportunity
for registered voters to check if their names appear on the voters roll.

"Our Community Development Workers (CDWs) have been working with
relevant stakeholders to disseminate information on voter registration
including working with the Department of Home Affairs to facilitate the
distribution of green bar-coded identity documents. As the provincial
government we are confident with the logistical arrangements made by the
IEC for this voter registration weekend and we hope that everything goes
accordingly as planned", MEC Sebego said.
