The Gauteng Provincial Legislature extends its condolences to the Moche family and the people of Gauteng. Dr John Moche, a medical specialist was shot dead by two gunmen in an alleged hijacking in Riviera last Friday.The brutal killing of 41-year-old Dr John Moche has left his family and the country’s medical fraternity shattered, and raised anger about crimes perpetrated against those trying to save lives. Dr Moche has been described by those who knew him as a well-known fighter in the campaign for affordable healthcare for all South Africans, as well as helping many young underprivileged South Africans reach their dreams of becoming doctors.
According to police, Dr Moche was shot through the heart during an alleged hijacking in Riviera as he sat in his Range Rover talking to a friend. This was shortly after he had left his office at the Steve Biko Academic Hospital, where he headed the dermatology department.
The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Health and Social Development Portfolio Committee condemns the killing of Dr Moche.
