Orphan Day to be conducted by 17 Squadron on Friday, 19 August 2011

On Friday, 19 August 2011, the South African Air Force’s 17 Squadron will be flying ophans from different schools/day care centres around the area of Pretoria as part of their community outreach programme. Kids Care Centre in Cullinan, Betang Puelo Home in KwaMhlanga and Pretoria School for the disabled in Pretoria West will enjoy a flight in an Oryx helicopter.Approximately over four hundred abandoned and cancer suffering children will be given an opportunity to visit Swartkop Airfield on that day.The program of the day begins at 08:00, in the morning, and will continue until 16:00 in the afternoon.

Children will be given presents such as toys, food parcels, blankets, nappies, cushions and soccer balls.There will also be a lot of activities like jumping castles, Oros man and Simba man will fill the day’s event with lots of fun and laughter for the orphans.This event is made possible by donations from companies such as Pick ‘n Pay, Spar, Sasko, Clicks, Coca Cola, Kit Kat, and Formula 1 Group of Hotels as well as the SAAF’s Siyandiza Programme.
